Mary Ellen Morien, 65, Wausau, passed away on Monday, November 5, 2012 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Mount View Care Center as the result of complications due to a stroke.
She was born on May 17, 1947 in Wausau, the daughter of the late Anton "Tony" and Delphine (Esker) Morien. Mary Ellen was born with Down's Syndrome and in her earlier years attended the EACH program and now Northern Valley Workshop. She enjoyed fellowship and camaraderie at the workshop. She loved her family, pets and attending sporting events for her nephews and dance recitals for her nieces. Music was very comforting to her-especially Polka and easy listening music. She also liked traveling to visit family in the Madison and Minneapolis area.
Survivors include her sister, Anita (Dennis) Lewandowski, Wausau with whom she made her home the past 16 years; a brother, Kenneth (Joan) Morien, Weston; a sister-in-law, Sharon Morien, Weston and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mary Ellen was preceded in death by two brothers, LaVerne Morien and ElRoy Morien.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12NOON on Friday, November 9, 2012, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 6th St., Wausau. Fr. William Grevatch will officiate. Interment will be in St. Florian's Catholic Cemetery, Hatley. Visitation will be on Friday from 10AM until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.

The family of Mary Ellen wishes to thank the doctors, wonderful nurses and care-givers for the compassionate care given to Mary Ellen. Also, Father Grevatch and parish family for their prayers.
