Funeral Home: Brainard

Oliver W. Borgeson, 89 of Wausau, passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2012 at the Wellington Place, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services, Wausau. He was born on May 12, 1923 in Hibbing, MN, son of the late George A. and Adah (Whitaker) Borgeson. On June 21, 1947, he married Helen Bradt. Oliver served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. After graduating from Michigan Tech, he enjoyed a long career in the mining industry working for what was formerly Pickands-Mather, now called Cliffs Natural Resources. He was an avid golfer, and enjoyed playing cribbage and other card games. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Helen Borgeson, Weston; son, Philip (Wendy) Borgeson, Rothschild; daughter, Amy Borgeson, St. Paul, MN; one granddaughter, Jennifer (Craig) Godwin, Houston, TX; one great-granddaughter, Alizabeth Godwin; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, George. Memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at the Brainard Funeral Home – Everest Chapel, 5712 Memorial Court, Weston. Rev. Dan Eisnor of New Hope Community Church will officiate. Military honors will follow the service. Visitation will be from 2:30 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday.
