Untiet, Donald Sr.

Donald Untiet Sr., age 82, of Wausau passed away at the Hospice House on Sunday, October 21, 2012 with his wife of 56 years by his side.

Don was born on September 6, 1930 in Fenwood, WI to Henry and Edna Untiet.

Don graduated from Edgar High School and went on to join the Navy. While in the Navy he fought in the Korean War. On February 11, 1956 he married Agnes Schmitz.

Don was employed by Marathon Electric and retired from the Wausau Postal Service in 1990. He was one to keep busy, during retirement he worked part time at Sam’s club in Rib Mountain.

He was a long time member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church in Wausau. He enjoyed cooking, baking, hunting, fishing, bowling, listening to big band music, and getting together with his retired friends to enjoy a good breakfast. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Don is survived by his wife Agnes; son Donald (Marna) Untiet of West Bend; daughter Diane (Scott) Jacobson of Appleton; grandchildren Laura, Sara, and Andrew Untiet, and Eliazbeth and Nicholas Jacobson; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Henry ad Edna Untiet; his in-laws John Schmitz, Magdalene Becker; sister Elaine Monroe, brother-in-law Charles Monroe; and granddaughter Emily Jacobson.

A private family service will be held.

The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice House for taking great care of Don and to the many doctors who helped along the way.

Also, thank you to Don’s neighbor Larry who always wanted to help.
