William A. “Bill” Hackbarth, age 70, of Rothschild went to his Heavenly Home on Monday, October 1, 2012.

Bill was born on November 7, 1941 to the late Theodore and Helen (Anklam) Hackbarth in Wausau. He married Carol Nienow on November 11, 1961 in the Town of Maine. He was employed as a sheet metal worker at Greenheck, retiring in 2004.

Bill was an active member of the Wausau Alliance Church and was a volunteer firefighter at the Schofield Fire Department. He loved riding his Harley, camping, playing cards, and table games, and making sauerkraut. He will be dearly missed by his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Carol of Rothschild; children Mark (Donna) Hackbarth of Wausau, Daniel (Kim) Hackbarth of Wausau, Cynthia (Thomas) Woods of Menahsa, Lisa (Donald) Schultz of Elk River, MN, and Tina (Paul) Hiles of Marshfield; thirteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and eleven step grandchildren; brother Walter (Lila) Hackbarth of Appleton; sisters Vivian (Amos) Woller of Wausau and Virginia Erdman.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, brother Charles, and sister Dorothy.

Memorial service will be held at 4:30 pm on Sunday, October 7, 2012 at Wausau Alliance Church, 2125 Franklin St, Wausau. The Rev. Lou Rossetti will officiate. Visitation will take place from 3:00 pm until the time of the service at the church on Sunday.
