David M. Kluever, 69, of Tomahawk, died on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital following a courageous struggle with cancer.
David was born Jan. 12, 1943 to the late Milton and Verona (Wendorf) Kluever in Wausau. He graduated from Wausau High School in 1961. He attended the UW-Madison, graduating with a Bachelor Degree in Economics and History. David served in the Army Reserve. He married Dawn Prast on June 13, 1964 in Wausau.
David was the Director of the City-County IT Center Commission, managing all facets of local government data processing, retiring in 2007.
He loved fishing, boating, golfing, softball, and card playing. He enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, Wisconsin Badgers and NASCAR. David played dart ball for St. Paul’s United Church of Christ team the Hornets. He was always involved with his kid’s activities and more recently with his grandchildren. He and his wife retired in their home on Lake Nokomis in Tomahawk, where he recently purchased his dream car, a 2007 Mustang Convertible.
Survivors include his wife, Dawn; two sons, Dan (Heidi) Kluever, Savage, Minn., and Brad (Becky) Kluever, Kronenwetter; a daughter, Michelle (Doug) Denfeld, Marathon; five grandchildren, Alex and Ashley Denfeld, Chole and Gabriella Kluever, Abigail Kluever and one on the way! Four sisters, Cheryl (Neal) Siikarla, Fall Creek, Linda (Mike) Aldrich, Irma, Lori (Clay) Koertei, Plover, and Donna (Gordon) Clements, Wausau; and his faithful dog Sheba.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 426 Washington St., Wausau. Rev. Mark Ziemer will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Brainard Funeral Home, 522 Adams St. Wausau and again on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.
