Maudell "Cookie" Hanson, 64, Wittenberg, died on Sunday, September 23, 2012 at Ministry Saint Clares Hospital, Weston.
She was born on February 25, 1948 in Chicago, the daughter of the late Roy Crick and the late Gladys (Gunderson) Crick Kersten. She was also raised by her step-father, the late Roy Kersten. On May 11, 1970, Cookie was united in marriage to Lloyd Hanson in Shawano. He preceded her in death on February 6, 2001.
Cookie worked as a cook at the former Wheel Inn, Wittenberg, for many years. She also worked at Wal-Mart, Stevens Point, until her retirement. Cookie was an avid bowler and enjoyed going to the casino and traveling.
Survivors include a son, Roy (Sheri) Hanson, Wausau; two daughters, Heidi (Robert) Cash, Wausau and Leah (Richard) Whiston, Jacksonville, NC; grandchildren, Taylor, Hayley and Samantha Cash and Kodiak Wolff and Payton Whiston; Siblings, Phillip "Butch" (Marge) Kersten, Wittenberg, Roy (Michelle) Crick, Juddie Payne, Schofield, Nancy Scarpino, Washington, Howie (Doris) Crick, Wittenberg and long-time companion, Vincent Firkus, Wittenberg. In addition to her husband and parents, Cookie was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda and a brother Richard.
The funeral service will be held at 6PM on Friday, September 28, 2012 at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg. Visitation will be on Friday from 4PM until the time of service at the funeral home. The family guestbook and condolences are available at schmidtschulta.com
