Rebecca Harris, 58, Weston, passed into eternal rest on Sunday, September 2, 2012 at Aspirus Hospice House, Wausau.
The daughter of Homer and Dorothy (Allen) Harris, she grew up in La Crosse, Wisconsin and went on to get degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (BS-Education) and Viterbo University in La Crosse (Masters Degree). Upon getting her degree in teaching she took a job with the D. C. Everest School District and taught fourth grade at Weston Elementary school for 35 years until her retirement in 2010.
Becky was a long time member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Wausau, active with many groups including the bell choir. She enjoyed reading, traveling and most of all spending time with friends and family. She had a passion for her friends and a special place in her heart for her students.
She is survived by her brother, Thomas Harris and niece Michelle Harris both of Brookfield, WI. She is also survived by her Aunt Emmeline Brun of Rochester, MN and numerous cousins and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law Mary Jane Harris.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1101 Elm Street, Wausau. Rev. Tim Vanden Langenberg will officiate. Burial will be at Rock Cemetery in Livingston, WI. Visitation will be held on Friday, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Brainard Funeral Home – Everest Chapel, 5712 Memorial Court, Weston and again on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Becky wanted to send a special thank you to Dr Hilmi Ege, the cancer care nurses at Ministry St. Clare Hospital and the entire staff at Marshfield Clinic –Weston for the wonderful care and support she received during her illness. She also wanted to thank her friends, neighbors and church family for the support and encouragement.
