Duane M. Smith, age 88, of Wausau died Sunday, July 22, 2012. Duane was born on May 31, 1924 in La Crosse Wisconsin to the late Lewis and Pearl Smith. He moved to Wausau in Elementary School. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy for four years during World War II in the South Pacific. He married Patricia DeLisle in 1946. She survives. Duane was a member of the American Legion and VFW, the Marathon County Historical Society, Kiwanis K, Elks Club, and USS Colorado Alumni Association. He loved golf and was an avid baseball fan and coached Little League Baseball for 5 years. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 27, 2012 at Brainard Funeral Home, 522 Adams St, Wausau. The Rev. Schaefer will officiate. Brainard Funeral Home is assisting the family.
