Funeral Home: Helke
LaVern H. Mootz, 72, of Kronenwetter, entered Heaven on Tuesday, June 26,
2012, surrounded by his family, at Ministry St. Clare’s Hospital in Weston.
He was born in Newood, Wisconsin, the son of the late Harry and Leona (Bahr)
Mootz, on August 28, 1939. LaVern will be remembered by his family as a
devoted family man that loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and
cherished the time he had with them.
LaVern lived in this area all of his life. He was a graduate of the former
Wausau High School in 1957. He married Janis Jackson on September 16, 1961
at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wausau.
The most important thing to LaVern was his family. He was a devoted
grandfather and great-grandfather. LaVern enjoyed fishing and hunting, and
he loved to tinker around the garage, passing on practical knowledge to his
grandchildren. Many nights and early mornings were spent watching marathons
of The Three Stooges with his grandchildren. LaVern could also be found
outside gardening or tending to his apple trees. He enjoyed watching many
Brewers games.
LaVern is survived by his wife, Janis of Kronenwetter; children, Steven
(Martina) Mootz of Janesville, Wis., Beth (Calvin) Wong of Elmhurst, Ill.,
and Jill (Jeff) Krzmarcik of Mosinee; 13 grandchildren; four
great-grandchildren; brother, Roger (Phyllis) Mootz of Pewaukee, Wis.;
sister, Lorraine (Bill) Wilde, of Wausau; cousins; and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 29, 2012, at Helke
Funeral Home, 302 Spruce St., Wausau, with the Rev. David Faulkner
officiating. Family and friends may call beginning at 4:00 p.m. until 7:00
p.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2012, at the funeral home and again beginning at
9:00 a.m. on Friday, until the time of service. Burial will be in Maple
Grove Cemetery, town of Maine.
