Ralph P. Hempfer, 87, Aniwa died Friday June 8, 2012 at his home under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. He was born on April 25, 1925 in the town of Plover, the son of the late Joseph and Martha (Ackerman) Hempfer. Ralph was a U.S. Army Veteran. On June 6, 1953, Ralph was united in marriage to Margaret Gaulke at St. John's Lutheran Church, Wausau. She survives. Ralph and Margaret farmed in the town of Plover. He enjoyed hunting, being in the outdoors and playing cards, but he especially loved spending time with family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Margaret, Aniwa; one son, Russell (Linda Miller) Hempfer, Aniwa; two daughters, Renee (Matthew) Nute, Phoenix, AZ and Merry (David) Zingg, Mountain Home, Arkansas and one brother, Edwin Hempfer, Wausau. Ralph is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Doris, Hazel, Helen, Ella and Sophie. The Memorial Service will be held at 10am on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Birnamwood. Rev. Steve Schroepfer will officiate. Military honors will be conducted by the Darling-Gunderson American Legion Post #341. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 9am until the time of services.
