Dale C. Gunderson, 78, Wittenberg, died Sunday, June 3, 2012 at the Homme Home of Wittenberg under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
He was born on October 11, 1933 in Wittenberg, the son of the late Bernard and Almyra (McClean) Gunderson.
Dale farmed in town of Wittenberg for many years, he worked at a variety of jobs, but retired from Consolidated Badger in Wittenberg where he was a longtime employee. Dale was a member of Holy Family-St. William Catholic Church, Wittenberg, the Shawano County Historical Society and the Antique Engine Club. He served on the Wittenberg Town Board, was a director of the Association of the Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs and was a founding member and past President of the Wittenberg Trailblazers. Dale enjoyed many activities, some of his favorites were, snowmobiling, gardening, going out to eat and going to the Hodag. He also enjoyed country music, antiques, bluebirds and family gatherings.
Survivors include three brothers, Magnus (Gloria) Gunderson, Milwaukee, Kenneth (Marilyn) Gunderson, Wausau, and Pat (Jean) Gunderson, Eland and one sister, Jacqueline Gunderson, Wittenberg. Dale is also survived by 27 nieces and nephews, over 60 great-nieces and great-nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Marcia (John) Nilles and Thelma (Jack) Van Order.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Holy Family - St. William Catholic Church, Wittenberg. Fr. Patrick Lloyd will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4pm until 8pm at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg and again on Thursday from 10am until 10:45am also at the funeral home.
