Edeline M. Young, 92, formerly of Wittenberg, died Monday, May 21, 2012 under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice at her daughter's home in Rhinelander.
She was born on August 9, 1919 in Tigerton, the daughter of the late John and Martha (Bredendick) Liesch.
On October 28, 1939 Edeline was united in marriage to Howard Young in Tigerton. He preceded her in death on June 9, 2001.
Edeline and Howard farmed in the town of Wittenberg for many years. She also worked as a clerk in the former Lendved Hardware Store and Jerry's Hardware, Wittenberg. Edeline was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wittenberg. She was very involved in the church as a Sunday School teacher, member of the Ladies Aide, and was a former church secretary. Edeline enjoyed playing cards and played in various local card clubs. She also enjoyed golfing and bowling. Edeline was a very giving person and always had a smile on her face.
Survivors include four children, Jeanette (Lance) Kamke, Rhinelander, Yvonne (Everett) Melnick, St. Petersburg, FL, Roger (Luella) Young, Wittenberg and Judy (John) Batty, Hoffman Estates, IL; nine grandchildren; Julie Wold, Greg (Jenny) Smith, Jerry (Jenny) Smith, Pamela (Dave) White, Mike (Veronika) Thies, Randy (Angie) Young, Kathy Young, Jason (Jen) Batty, and Jeanine (Tony) Woodman; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to her husband and parents, Edeline was preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur Liesch, Ehardt Liesch and William Liesch and one sister, Genevieve Hoffman.
The Funeral Service will be held at 11am on Friday, May 25, 2012 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wittenberg. Rev. Michael Larson will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Wittenberg. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5pm until 8pm at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg and on Friday from 10am until the time of services at the church.
