A group of women is coming together to make a difference in our community. It's called a Giving Circle: a way for Marshfield area women to support people in need.
Each year, about 40 women get together to fund a problem issue in the community. Organizers say it's a way to do more as a group than any one person could alone.
"The members of the women's giving circle each contribute some money to a pool of funds and we decide on how to disperse the funds and every member gets a vote," says organizer Deb Janz.
In the past, they've funded grants to improve poverty or medical issues, and have supported things like food pantries and abuse shelters.
This year, they'll be holding their annual fundraiser event on May 11th, "Wine and Chocolate, Women and Giving" at the Marshfield Clinic.
