Wausau East's principal received quite a surprise Tuesday during an assembly at the school.

Dr. Brad Peck was named Wisconsin High School Principal of the Year by the Association of Wisconsin School Administrators.

Dr. Peck is being recognized for his outstanding performance and inspiration in the school and community.

He says he's honored to receive the award, but he could not have won it without the help of many others.

"I am very humbled by this award, but this is not an award that one personally wins. This is a reflection of working with tremendous staff and students," he said.

Dr. Peck has been principal at Wausau East since 1996. Later this year, he will travel to Washington, D.C. for the National Leader Symposium.
