It's that time of year again, to rid your home and garage of all that junk you've been meaning to throw out.

The city of Wausau starts its large item pick-up Monday and continues through next Friday. Workers will pick up large items only, including carpets, furniture and mattresses.

This is not an opportunity to get rid of trash or small household items.

Examples of large items which will be picked up include: bathroom fixtures, carpeting, cabinets and counter tops, tables, hot water heaters, large pieces of furniture, grills, large metal items, lawn mowers (gas and oil removed), small engines, pianos, pool tables, sinks, mattresses and sofas.

Items which will not be picked up include: clothing, blankets, vacuum cleaners, water hoses, luggage, toys, televisions, refrigerators, air conditioners, microwaves, stoves, washers, dryers, freezers, dishwashers, vending machines, computers, water purifiers, dehumidifiers, tires, garbage, brush and yard waste.

Florescent light bulbs, batteries, and hazardous materials can be taken to the Marathon County Clean Sweep/Hazardous Waste program by appointment only. Call 715-446-3101 ext. 100 to make an appointment.

All items should be placed at curbside by 7 a.m. on the scheduled pick-up day.

Tuesday, Apr. 24:
Randolph Street to Bridge Street between U.S. 51/I39 and Wisconsin River

Wednesday, Apr. 25:
Bridge Street to Elm Street between 17th Ave and 1st Ave.
Town LIne Road to E. Thomas Street (includes Northwestern & Golf Course Area)

Thursday, Apr. 26:
Elm Street to Stewart Ave between 17th Ave and 1st Ave.
E. Thomas Street to Forest Street.

Friday, Apr. 27:
Stewart Avenue to Sherman Street between U.S. 51/I39 and 1st Ave.
All of Grand Avenue from south city limits to Forest Street.

Monday, Apr. 30:
Sherman Street to Thomas Street between U.S. 51/I39 and Wisconsin River.
Forest Street to Franklin Street

Tuesday, May 1:
Thomas Street to south city limits between U.S. 51/I39 and Wisconsin River.
Franklin Street to Stark Street

Wednesday, May 2:
U.S. 51/I39 to 36th Ave.
Stark Street to East Wausau Ave.

Thursday, May 3:
36th Avenue to West city limits.
