Reports that the U.S. economy is still facing challenges continues to make headlines every week. However, some companies in our area disagree and have boosting sales records to prove it.

If it's not high gas prices then it's Americans desperately searching for jobs, but those are just two things inflicted by the recession.

Many would think buying pools and RV's would not be on the minds of Americans, but business owners said sales are increasing.

Gas prices are inching up to $4 a gallon, but that has not stopped Wisconsin residents from purchasing recreational vehicles. An employee from King's Campers in Wausau said RV's are flying out of the lot quicker than last year.

Janice Skidmore said, "We're at a solid 200 sold by the end of May, so it's defiantly a boost in sales. We're defiantly over in percent then we were last year and the year before."

Skidmore said they sell year round, but more customers shop right before Memorial Day, Labor Day and the 4th of July. Just like RV's, pools and spas are a hot investment.

"They're spending more time at home so they're saying lets invest in our home, lets put in the deck or patio and hey how about a hot tube or swimming pool the kids wanted," said Mike Bourguignon.

Skidmore said people are spending money on RV's to escape or entertain their life style. Whereas Bourguignon thinks his clients are looking for time to spend with family. However you look at it, their businesses are not hurting in this economy.

Bourguignon also told a NewsChannel 7 reporter, his customers request the least expensive spas or the most pricey ones. He said they want quality or whatever they can afford.

RV's can cost more than a hundred thousand dollars.
