Calling ALL ladies!
It's a HOT commodity - and after reading this you'll understand why! For the first time the Stevens Point Fire Department has put together a calendar featuring several guys on the force. It's called "12 Shades of the SPFD." After a weeks worth of sales they've already sold more than 300 copies.
But it's more than your chance to have a complete year's worth of photos of fit fire fighters. Some of the money will be used to help restore a piece of history - The Boy with the Leaking Boot.
Victor Kedrowski who on the fire department - and Mr. September, says, "He's our mascot for the fire department. He's been our mascot since the turn of the century. He's stayed with us since we moved to the new station and we've been taking care of him ever since. "
The years have not been kind to him. He's withstood some extreme wear and tear. The dept. is hoping the to use the sales of the calendars to restore him to his original glory.
In addition, some of the money will also be put into the James Dorn Memorial Burn Fund. (to read more on the boy with the leaking boot and the James Dorn Memorial Burn Fund click the links below).
Calendars can be picked up at the Stevens Point Fire Dept. Station 1 or Station 2 for a donation of $10. Fun little note - if the guys are around they say they'll be happy to sign them for you!
Kedrowski says they are grateful for all the local businesses who donated their time and effort to help them put it together. If you're wondering if this will be an annual thing, Kedrowski says it all depends on the public's reaction. And ladies here's the good news - with the way sales have been going so far, it looks pretty promising.
