Money raised at an upcoming family fun run/walk in Rib Mountain will go toward life-saving technology.
The Rib Mountain Fire Department will host "Run for Life" starting at 8 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 11.
It starts and ends at Doepke Park in the town.
Proceeds will buy defibrillators to put in public places around town. It's a machine that's been proven to save lives.
"In some cases, you could grab an AED, get down on the floor, attach the pads appropriately, the faster you do it, the faster this AED will tell you what to do," explains Lieutenant John Lauer. "And if you can shock this person's that's down 5 or 10 minutes before an ambulance gets on the scene, you very well may have saved that person's life."
You do not have to be trained to operate an AED. But the Rib Mountain Fire Department also holds a free CPR class every third Thursday of the month.
The Fire Department will also have a brat fry sale. To register as a runner or walker, follow the link below.
