Final Alarm Ceremony, Saturday in Wisconsin Rapids

Firefighters from across Wisconsin gathered in Wisconsin Rapids, Saturday, October 13, to honor those dedicated to saving others.

The public was invited to the Final Alarm Ceremony, which was held at Lincoln High School's Performing Arts Center instead of the Wisconsin State Firefighters Memorial because of the rain.

This year the WSFM, Inc. will be celebrating the lives and honoring the families of three firefighters who have died in the Line-of-Duty since the 2011 ceremony.

Lieutenant Jamison Kampmeyer, Colby F.D.

Captain John Colbert, Birchwood F.D.

Firefighter Robert Wojczulis, Milwaukee County F.D.

Saturday’s ceremony included the playing of bag pipes and the ring of a bell between the readings of each fallen fire fighter's name, further saluting their sacrifice.

The names of the three firefighters honored in this years ceremony, along with the names of 24 other fallen Wisconsin firefighters, have been added to the wall of the memorial in Ben Hansen Park.

Governor Walker also proclaimed October 13th, 2012 State Firefighters Memorial Day.
