The D.C. Everest Band Boosters are hoping this will be their "Get Out of Jail Free Card." In hopes of getting some extra cash to support their bands, they've put together "Everest-opoly."
As you guessed it's exactly what it sounds like. It's a local take on the classic board game, "Monopoly." The game will feature Weston, Schofield, and Rothschild businesses around the game board. Not only will you be able to enjoy this collector's item with your family and friends, more importantly you'll be giving kids the gift of music.
The band boosters are hoping to raise $10,000.
The band director, Ted Aarrestad, says they have many instruments that need to be replaced due to age - and that can be pretty pricey. To put it into perspective, Aarrestad says instruments range from $1,500 and up. They are in the process of completing their Timpani Set - which in total will cost $12,000 to $13,000. Aarrestad says they try to buy bigger instruments that kids can't afford.
If you'd like to pre-order your "Everest-opoly" game call (715)359-6348.
Also, they are still in need of three more business sponsors from the Weston, Rothschild, and Schofield areas. It costs $250 to have your business' name on the board. Individual families can get involved as well. You and your family's name could be listed in the middle of the board for a donation of $50. If you'd like to be a sponsor please call (715)359-6348 by Friday, Oct. 5th.
"Everest-opoly" is expected to be ready by Christmas.
