Busy Weekend in Northcentral Wisconsin

It's all about local residents doing good things this weekend.

In Rhinelander, the Masonic Lodge is hosting the 2nd Annual Walk for a Cure Saturday to benefit the American Cancer Society. Last year they had a goal of $1,000 and they raised $6,000. This hope to raise $8,000 this year. The function starts at 6 p.m. Saturday evening. All the money raised goes toward research.

If you want to show off how strong you are and help a good cause this weekend, the place to be is Cedar Creek Mall in Rothschild. It's hosting the 3rd Annual Strongman Competition and Semi Pull. The event features the of strength of humans against each other and in tug of wars against semis. It's Saturday and Sunday and all the money raised goes to the Special Olympics.

One other event in the area this weekend is helping to fight Cystic Fibrosis. It's the Great Strides Walk. That's at Pfiffner Park in Stevens Point on Sunday at 2 p.m.

The Langlade County Speedway has delayed their opening today to Friday, May 27. A portion of the admission will go to help those devastated by the tornado in Merrill on April 10th. They'll also be collecting non-perishable food and money. The races start at 7 p.m. Friday.
