FOND DU LAC, Wis. (AP) -- More than 300 people turned out for a bike ride that honored a fallen Fond du Lac police officer.
Officer Craig Birkholz was shot and killed by a sexual assault suspect during a stand off on March 20. Officer Ryan Williams was shot twice in the chest. A bullet hit the abdomen of police dog, Grendel, while the dog was sitting in a squad car.
The suspect committed suicide.
The 67-mile ride Saturday was called "Birky Challenge" and coordinators hope to make it an annual event.
All proceeds go toward a law enforcement college scholarship.
Officers from the surrounding police departments were among the riders.
Officer Williams and Grendel are both back to work.
