Dr. Paul HIlmer, author of "A People's History of the Hmong" will be at Marathon County Public Library Wausau Headquarters at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2011. He is a professor of American History and Director of the Hmong Oral History Project at Concordia University in St. Paul, Minnesota.
His book is compiled from a collection of more than 200 interviews from members of the hmong community. He will be speaking about how the Hmong became embroiled in a war not of their own making, what role they served during the Vietnam War and what forces propelled them from their homeland of Laos to the refugee camps of thailand and ultimately here to the united states. Dr. Hillmer will discuss these and other topics of interest.

He is also the keynote speaker at the Hmong Heritage Month Luncheon at 11 a.m. Friday, April 29, 11 at The Rose Garden in Wausau.
