It's an Artrageous Weekend here in Wausau.Whether you're an art lover or not, there is something for everyone. From Art in the Park at Marathon Park 's East Gate Hall to the Festival of Art at the 400 Block and Birds in Art exhibition at the Woodson Art Museum, art is everywhere this weekend.
People are coming from far and wide to take part in the extravaganza. One hundred and twenty artists from all around the world are in town showcasing their art. Peta Boyce traveled all the way from Australia to display her art at the Birds in Art exhibit. An experience, she says, was definitely worth the 25 hour plane ride.
"I feel quite honored and very humbled as well as inspired to see some of the work that is surrounding my piece. As well as to meet the other artists, American artists, of this caliber is quite an honor," Boyce told NewsChannel 7.
This year the theme is birds, but event coordinators say it's really all about showcasing the beauty of the world we live in.
"Art of the natural world is something we celebrate in Wausau. It's gorgeous here. People really flock here from around the region to enjoy the outdoors and you can do that indoors and outdoors, in the galleries and on the grounds," Amy Beck of the Woodson Art Museum said.
The Birds in Art exhibition will run until June 2013, but Art in the Park and Festival of Art will wrap up on Sunday.
All three events are free to the public. A free shuttle service is also available to transport you to and from the various venues.
