Physicians are now saying that women who have had cesarean sections in the past should consider traditional labor in the future.
It's part of new guidelines from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Today, there are more c-sections than ever.
Doctors say natural births after cesarean sections are safe for most women, unless they have a recurring problem.
"If a woman has a ceserean, one previous cesarean section, her provider should discuss with her the option of proceeding with and trying labor leading to vaginal birth," said Julie Luks, M.D., of Aspirus Women's Health.
Dr. Luks says it's important that mothers know all of their options, and ultimately it's her choice.
Still, some mothers elect to have c-sections.
She also says more babies are being born earlier, which can cause complications.
