Money for Rib Mountain

Rib Mountain was a perfect setting to celebrate Wisconsin's outdoors and because of the Stewardship Fund, the State Park will be getting a major upgrade.

This year, a portion of the fund will be used to reconstruct Park Road and give the mountain access to water and sewer service.

The Rib Mountain project also includes plans for a new visitor center and public entrance.

Wausau's Mayor couldn't be happier about the project. He says, "Particularly for Rib Mountain there have been some major improvements that are long overdue and I think it is very dangerous. The new water and sewer will help the park grow, yet it will also preserve our natural resources."

Since 1990, the Stewardship Fund has preserved more than 580,000 acres of public land. The protected lands are used for recreational activities such as hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activities.

$86 million will be used so the Stewardship program can continue to protect Wisconsin land until 2020.
