The Village of Weston's finance committee is recommending residents who paid for new sidewalks not be reimbursed.
Beginning in 2000, several residents paid a couple thousand dollars each to have sidewalks installed on their property.
They paid two-thirds of the total cost, and the village picked up the rest.
But in 2007, the village policy changed so that new sidewalks would be funded by all Weston taxpayers.
The finance committee unanimously voted against returning roughly $220,000 to the residents.
The measure will go to the full village board Oct. 5th.
