Kronenwetter May Prohibit Alcohol in Strip Clubs

On Monday the Kronenwetter Village Board will vote on an ordinance that would make it illegal for establishments that sell alcohol to offer adult entertainment too.

Though there have been in the past, currently in the village there are no such establishments.

The resolution states that clubs that mix alcohol and nude, erotic dancing are detrimental to the public health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the village.

It goes on to say that based on the experiences of other communities, that mixture can potentially increase prostitution and other crimes locally.

It also says a business like that could disrupt the peace and order of the community and lower property values in the neighborhood.

The New Yorker gentleman's club closed two years ago, and now sits vacant in the village.

According to Village Administrator Blaine Oborn, this isn't the first time this issue has been brought to the table.

"It is something that the board has considered before. I think over a year, year and a half ago, at that time they decided not to act on it," Oborn said.

He says it's within the village's scope to create the ordinance, and that other municipalities have done so with effective results.

Nonetheless it will be up to the village board to decide Monday, Sept. 28th at their regular monthly meeting.

If the resolution passes, anyone who violates the ordinance would be subject to losing their liquor license.
