Area Teens Win National Boys and Girls Club Art Exhibit Contest

Ellie Landowski, 16 and Kayly Everman, 16 are two of 36 Boys & Girls Club artists from around the United States who’s work has been chosen to appear in the 2009 National Fine Arts Exhibit.

Both winners originally participated in the Boys & Girls Club’s “Youth of Portage County” Fine Arts Exhibit Program in January of 2009, organized by the Boys & Girls Club of Portage County and sponsored by Mark Motors, Koerten Gallery, and the Women’s Fund of Portage County.

Their art was selected, along with six other local art pieces, to advance to the regional exhibit held at the Boys & Girls Club of Green Bay.

From there, Landowski’s and Everman’s art advanced to the National Exhibit where they were selected from more than 252 finalists vying for top honors for this year’s national judging.

Landowski’s Her Eddie won best Monochromatic piece in the 16-18 age category and Everman’s Swirl won best Watercolor in the 16-18 age category.
