The Salvation Army of Wausau is expecting more families than ever to need help this Christmas. More than 1,500 children are expected to apply for gifts this season.
They are asking families that need help to fill out applications early this year to make sure they can help everyone who comes through their doors. Children under 16 years old are able to fill out an application and request gifts under $30.
"What we're trying to do is to get the information soon enough to process it all, get the tags made up and then out to our different Angel Tree locations, which is only a month away from now. With as many as we expect to have in, we would like to have most of them in on the forefront of that so we're not trying to catch up," says Captain Brian Goodwill of the Salvation Army.
If you or someone you know needs help this season, the Salvation Army asks you visit their office on 202 Callon Street, or you can call 715-845-4272.
