Beer tasting is getting a little easier this year, thanks to the Merrill community starting the First Annual Lager Barley Fest. Organizers brought in about 26 vendors for the community to meet and taste local brewing companies' original flavors. They say the event is unique for beer lovers, because they're not only able to taste different barley flavors, but are able talk to the makers and ask questions.

"We're hoping that people will come around to our brewery and taste our beers and enjoy them to the extent that they'll come back here before the day is out and they have more that's always a good sign," says Michael Zamzow, owner and brewer of Bull Falls Brewery of Wausau.

Organizers say all money raised at the event will go to the Lincoln County Humane Society, they expect to raise about $5,000.
