One of the biggest festivals of the fall is underway in Minocqua. Thousands of beef lovers come to the area for the Annual Beef-A-Rama. It's described as one of the biggest cookouts of the year, meant to thank local businesses for a great summer season and enjoy time out with those in the community.
The Minocqua Chamber of Commerce expect to have about 12,000 people attend this Saturday, and families come from as far away as Madison to enjoy the new tastes this year.
Organizers tell me this is one of the biggest events of the year for Minocqua and they bring in a lot of beef for it. "There are twenty pound beefs and we got eighty of them. It's about 1,600 pounds of beef! And it roughly makes about 3,000 sandwiches, and those will be gone as soon as we start selling them, it's just a great time," says Event Chairperson Pat Brennan.
After everything is cooked by local businesses, Brennan says it's then paraded out down Oneida Street each year, where it will then be sold.
The chamber of commerce spokesman says they expect to raise about $8,00 this year, where all money will go to fund events in the Minocqua area throughout next year.
