It's a great day for dog lovers in Marathon County! Many headed out to the Marathon County Humane Society's Annual "Bark in the Park" event, which is their biggest fundraiser of the year.
"We celebrate today as a way of acknowledging the importance of our companion animals to us and our families. Many of these dogs have been adopted from here as well, you will see them with rainbow bandannas on. Today is a celebration of the dogs that are safe and loved and in good homes, and the proceeds will help those still looking for that, still needing to be in a good home," says Shelter Manager Judy Lombard.
Organizers this year had more than 75 dogs and their proud owners come out to support the shelter. Walkers pledged at least fifteen dollars to go toward the Humane Society.
They expect to raise about $7,000 from this year's event, to keep the facility going.
If you weren't able to make it to today's "Bark in the Park" but would like to make a donation to the Humane Society of Marathon County, you can do so by calling (715) 845-2810.
