A Christmas tradition lights up downtown Merrill, as the 22nd Lighted Christmas Parade makes its way down Main Street.
Saturday night Merrill officially kicked off it's holiday celebration the only way the city knows how, with a parade. Hundreds lines the streets downtown to take part in the Christmas tradition. They were definitely not disappointed. This year marked Zachary Kriegel's third time at the parade. He described the experience using just one word, awesome.
Each float featured in the parade was lovingly handcrafted by a local business or organization.
"The fun thing is that there all different. There all unique. They all have different themes," Executive Director of the Merrill Chamber of Commerce, Debbe Kinsey, told NewsChannel 7 about the floats.
Even NewsChannel 7 got into the fun this year with our own Sports Director, Dale Ryman, and weekend anchor, Colin Mayfield, riding along in the parade. But Zachary's favorite part of the parade is still Santa and he's not alone.
"I love the end of the course because we have the one and only Santa Clause... He always makes sure that Merrill is one of his first stops," Kinsey said.
So you better watch out. You better not cry. You better not pout. Santa Clause is in town!
