An area youth organization is continuing its mission to keep their club a positive place for kids to have fun, and apparently it's working because participation at the club is on the rise.

A spokeswoman for the Wausau Area Boys & Boys Girls Club says they've seen a significant increase in attendance for the month of April.

Last year the average daily youth attendance was 88 and this month, the daily average is above 130 kids a day, who are all choosing to make the club their second home.

Club Organizer Kim Gilgeta says, "Why would you want to be any place else! You know you walk in there’s so much fun stuff to do, so much energy we have an incredible staff and volunteers who here everyday to make sure tat the kids have fun things to do."

Organizers say attendance is higher because the staff is listening to what the kids want to participate in, like physical fitness activities, community service projects, arts, crafts and college and career exploration.
