The Wisconsin Valley Fair may be about three months away, but some 4H-ers are gearing up for it already this weekend.

Yesterday was the pre-fair sheep weigh-in.

We headed out to Morriss Wolly Acres Farm near Mosinee for more on the weigh-in.

"This weekend we gotta take them to get weighed in most of them are like 60 to 80 pounds and then you weigh them in," says Joe Foches, a 4H member.

"When you get to the fair, you find out the rate of gain and if their rate of gain isn't enough then you can't," he says. "I've shown for five years, sheep."

Joe says, "You're kind of nervous but once you get in there it's a lot of fun."

"We feed and water them we walk them and sheer them for the fair," he says.

Ben Foches, a 4H member says, "It teaches them responsibility, it teaches them care of animals, funding finances because it costs money to raise the animals, and they see the reward when they do finally sell them at the fair."

The Wisconsin Valley Fair begins August 3rd.
