I think summer school has become a baby sitter and isn't what it was originally intended for, kids who needed some extra help. Its a waste of our tax payer money. Why don't the school districts consider scaling it back to what it was with no freebie bussing. That might help with their budget dilemas and save the tax payers some money. |

it may be a waste of tax dollars but the kids who are in summer school obviously need the help. So if we just sit by letting them flunk who are we helping? Only ourselves because we think were saving money.
Posted by: Anonymous i work at a school and i have kids. I pay taxes and if my kids need help i'll go ont the internet and get some sheets to help them, if kids really need help then yes i'll take them to summer school Posted by: Anonymous At least it keeps kids off street corners! Posted by: Anonymous We pay to send our kids to summer school and she doesn't need "freebie busing" or "extra help" or a "free babysitter" as you call it, shes 15 and taking Drivers ED. I pay taxes... do you or are you another that doesn't want to work and collect off me? Do you have kids? then you would see the importance of the "extra help" that kids need. Posted by: Bill Location: Wausau It's about time not only Wisconsin but the rest of the country put our children to school 12 months a year like most of the rest of the world. It is a waste of time and it no longer serves a useful purpose for which that time was designed for. We are losing ground in our childrens education to foreign countries. I guess our politicians and school administration would rather see our kids stand on street corners all summer. |
