JUNE 8, 2009 THE WITTENBERG VILLAGE BOARD PLANS TO FIRE CHIEF PAUL YAEGER FROM THE WITTENBERG FIRE DEPT. IN HIS PLACE THEY PLAN TO HIRE SOMEONE WHO HAS NO QUALIFICATIONS AND IS NOT EVEN A MEMBER OF THE FIRE DEPT. NOT ONLY IS THIS AGAINST FIRE DEPT. BYLAWS, IT IS ALSO CONTRARY TO VILLAGE ORDINANCES. JUST THIS WEEKEND CHIEF YAEGER WAS PROMOTED BY THE U.S. AIR FORCE TO FIRE CHIEF AT THEIR DENVER, CO. BASE. HOW IRONIC? HOW IS THIS GOING TO AFFECT THE OTHER FIREMEN AND THE SERVICE OF THE WITTENBERG FIRE DEPT? OH, AND BY THE WAY THIS COMES ON DAY BEFORE A NEW FIRE ENGINE IS TO BE PICKED UP THAT PAUL WORKED VERY HARD TO GET A LARGE GRANT FOR. WHY DOES THIS BOARD WANT TO DESTROY THE FIRE DEPT. THAT SERVES THEM? |

Just six months later, last night 12,21,09 the village board again uproots the fire dept. and appoints a new fire chief that has an extensive criminal record causing many of the senior firemen to leave the dept. Is there enough firefighters to man the dept.? Posted by: Anonymous This sounds a little fishy. Maybe they need to change the laws. Why if he worked at a hospital could he then be Chief still, makes no sense. Kind of sounds like schofield with the mysterious and obviously forced resignation of previous chief jennings for a underqualified individual who now has officers that half do not even live in the township or the have skills needed to be there. Good luck ever getting things to be right especially with small town politics. Oh and so if they are letting him go on the fire department are they letting him go from the board too. Gosh hope he gets to collect unemployment while he has nothing better to do. Posted by: Anonymous It is ilegal to fill and be paid for 2 positons in the same town. He was being paid for being on the town board as well as for fire chief. Posted by: Anonymous Sounds like typical politics and the tax payers normally do not win. |
