Here's a hot one - Why can't this state get the "Right To Carry" law enacted. Reason - Hardnosed Govenor.
Just reason this trough. The applicant pays for a background check, agreess to a class (at his/her expense), and pays a yearly fee. Guns in the hands of bad people? I think not. Would someone be les lilley to hold a place up wondering if he/she is the only one with a gun?
Check out Michigan who was the first for C.C.W.

Governor Doyle is a useless socialist communist moron just like his counterpart in the White House (unless you live on welfare programs, then he's mr. wonderful). I'm glad he won't be running for re election.

The right to own and bare arms is a constitutional right along with a few others that still exist. The constitution was meant for the people of this country. Law makers have made new laws to twist our constitution around and are still trying to do that. They are not to far from the Roman Empire. They do what they want while the people can't even question them. They make you think you have a choice, but when was the last time our government did something for you. They are to busy helping the oil and drug companies. The rich corporations. Not to mention in their spare time having affairs with each others wifes or their interns or lobbyist. I would say it is time to speak out not just about our rights to carry, but all of our freedoms. We still have the best country in the world, but we truly need to take better care of it and the people in it.

Well I may only half the age of many of you individuals but in my short years and traveling the country I’ve never felt that I needed a gun... period. Guns are dangerous and people are morons. And there are too many stories too prove this point. And this isn't a question of government taking too many of our rights... this is government looking the situation and going this could go very wrong. And for you Tom I myself am a avid hunter and trap shooter... and guess what my opinion isn't different. You should be content with the right to bear arms and be able to hunt. And just why do people need guns… there are too many air heads that wouldn’t respect the rules of handling a gun and then what do you have people dying. Gun need to be in the hands of cops and other like them and not some opinionated group of people. Common sense does not come with owning a gun Tom.

The protect ourself in my opinion is the most basic right we have as americans. If we are denied that then there will be nothing to stop the politicians like Obama, Doyle, Pelosi, Feinstein and their like to take away the rest of are rights as they see fit. To anyone who shares the misinformed opinions of Sara, first of all I feel sorry for you, you obviously have never participated in the shooting sports if you have your opinion would be different. Second and most important, I suggest you get ahold of some literature from the NRA or JPFO (Jews for the Preservation of Firearm Ownership) at least then you would get the whole story on guns and not the crock of bull the liberal media propogates, and hopefully a healthy dose of commons sense along with it.

Did the Crondon officer go through a B.G.C. or was he simply a "Rush Through" on the part of the local gov. to fill a slot???
  • by Anonymous on May 27, 2009 at 10:16 AM
Forget Crandon already then. I thought that officer had a clean record. You never know what will happen.

I always get a kick out of these debates. At what point is taking our rights away from us going to be going to far? First we tell people to use seatbelts, then where they can and can't smoke, who can have guns and who can't. I hope some of you realize that soon enough you won't be able to drink alcohol in public places and the tax increase on fast food will be coming as well. Anytime we let the government rule the people instead of the people ruling the government we slowly lose our rights and freedoms. I can't for the life of me understand why people think that this is ok? Remember freedom of choice, you should have the right to wear or not wear a seat belt, you should have the right to allow smoking in your restaurant, you have the right to carry a hand gun if you go through the proper channels. We need to open our eyes and take responsiblities for ourselves and not let our government slowly but surely take our rights from us. You still have a choice, don't let that go too.

Sara - First of all it's very clear we both strongly diagree on this point. I do , however thank you for your views. Secondly, by enacting the C.C.W. this would license only people have clear records the B.G.check be paid for the the applicant.. By not allowing it the one who wants a gun will get it byand underground contact. A good example is the fact, that a 'con getting oout of the "Joint" will in fact get a gun by underground means faster than a law abiding person. He (the con) may, however, think twice if he/she enters a plece for ill intent, and think he/she may not be the only one there with a gun. Sara, it's not a perfect world, so I do once again querry If the C.C.W law would be so bad, why hasent other states (good eg. Mich. one of the first) who have enacted this law had trouble? When in some cases the law enforcement had applauded it.

There are just as many people who don't want the right to carry as those who do and I do not see the increase in safety by having more gun loving people carrying guns openly. What next knives, daggers, swords? I believe it is illegal to have pepper spray for safety and that does not have the ability to kill or maim. Maybe we should legalize pepper spray and you can carry it openly for safety.

Two wrongs do not make a right. It is wrong to carry a gun in public and its wrong for psychos to carry a gun at all. At least by making handgun sales illegal for anyone but the police force, tracking illegal sales would be easier, punishing the seller and the buyer. And who do you deem as criminal and law abiding? Jesse Jankowski was a law abiding citizen. He held a gun up to his girlfriend's head and threatened to kill her. He owned over 12 guns in his apartment alone. I knew him personally. I never would have thought him capable of that. There is no middle ground. Anyone can become a criminal. You can't just decide that.

"Posted by: Sara And you think that someone already owning a gun illegally is going to get their gun registered so they can carry it? Hand guns should only be permitted to police. There should be no way to get them otherwise. It's too easy for someone to get a gun that does not need one. This is for public safety. Anyone, when mad, can pull out a gun and threaten/shoot someone. Having a gun just makes them feel more empowered. No, the governor is in the right." And the police are so trustworthy so as to be trusted as the only ones with weapons. Remember, they're bosses are the politicians. Do you trust politicians? I don't think so. Remember the cops in New York who shot the unarmed guy 47 times? What about that buffoon in Oakland who shot the guy after he was restrained on the BART platform. A study proved that police are 5.5 times more likely to shoot the wrong person than an armed citizen.

Criminals are always going to find a way to get ahold of guns no matter what the law is. At least give the general public the chance to carry guns so we can protect ourselves from some of these idiots.
