The Packers, CES, and bringing home the hardware!

I've made a resolution to blog more frequently, so here are some of my random thoughts today...

Boy, that Packers' loss still stings.  There are so many things that would have turned the game in the Packers' favor, had they happened just a little differently....  here are just a few
    1.    Yes, Rodgers' facemask was yanked on the last play of the game, and the ref just didn't throw the flag.
    2.    Rodgers missed wide-open receivers for what could have been big gains, if not touchdowns, at least twice - including once in overtime.
     3.    Most importantly, the Packers just got off to a slow start, and their defense couldn't stop anything.  Even an average game from their D would have translated into an easy win.
After a slow start to the year for the Packers, it was great to see them even make the playoffs.  But with the momentum they had and how well they had been playing, I expected them to go deeper into the postseason.  I was really looking forward to Packers vs. Vikings, rd 3.
That said, it may not be quite as heart breaking as the NFC Championship loss at the end of the 2007 season.  For anyone with the heart to take a look at what could have been, I HIGHLY recommend the WSAW Packers Superbowl promo below.
I'll now be cheering for my 2nd favorite team: anyone but the Vikings.  How about you?

It wasn't the most exciting year at CES (the Consumer Electronics Show), but I'm a gadget and technology geek, and can't stop reviewing coverage from CNET.  As usual, a lot of the technology is fun to 'ooo' and 'ahhh' at, but currently too expensive to practically own.  The big thing this year was 3D-TV.  Clearly, 3d is a technology we'll see more and more of, but I just can't get excited about having to put on dorky-looking glasses in my living room whenever I sit down to watch my favorite show.
The item I'm most excited about?  The Boxee Box.  It lets you access almost any site that provides you with video, movies, and tv epsiodes online.... and I'm hoping it will eventually replace my monthly satellite TV bill!  It's expected to come out this spring and cost less than $200.
Does technology interest you?  I produced a series of 'Tech @ 10' stories in 2009.  Is that something you'd like to see more of in our newscasts?

Finally, we just finished submitting some of our station's best stories from 2009 to the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association for awards consideration.  We have a lot to live up to after last year, when NewsChannel 7 was named the Station of the Year, as well as News Operation of the Year at the WBA's!  We were very fortunate in 2009 to keep nearly all of the same reporters and anchors that we had in 2008, and I believe we should have another very strong showing!  Of course, we are in this business for our viewers, and not the awards, but it's always a great feeling to be recognized for your hard work by your peers!
