Time flies, doesn’t it? My daughter Natali turned 6 months old this Sunday. You may have seen her recently, stealing the show in some NewsChannel 7 promos!
I gotta say, I think being a dad just gets more and more fun every day older she gets. Her personality comes out more and more, and I’m always finding more fun ways to make her smile and laugh. As you can see, she’s quite the happy girl… 90% of the time, anyways.
She came down with her first cold recently, which turned into her first double ear infection. That led to a couple of rough days, but she bounced back in no time. She goes to daycare for a few hours each day, so I’m sure we have many more colds to look forward to!
We’ve been especially lucky with Natali because she’s been a great sleeper. She started sleeping through the night before she was 2 months old, and was pretty consistent for a while. Lately, though, it hasn’t been quite as smooth.
The problem seems to be her pacifier. She falls asleep with it, but wakes up several times throughout the night when she loses it. Once we pop it back in her mouth, she’s asleep in seconds. This week, we decided to try to get her to quit, cold turkey. The first night, she cried for about 15 minutes, but gave it and went to sleep – and it seemed to make a world of difference!
I think we’ll still use the pacifier now and then, but it seems avoiding it at nighttime may be the best move. Any advice on the subject from parents out there?
