Wisconsin Weather Radio Safety Campaign 2011

In cooperation with the National Weather Service (NWS), Wisconsin Emergency Management, Midland Radio Corp., and local Walgreens stores, I am pleased to announce NewsChannel 7's participation in this year's Weather Radio Safety Campaign.

Until August 31, participating Walgreens stores will be offering All Hazards Weather Alert Radios at reduced prices.

The radios included in the program are those shown here: model WR-100 (desktop model-shown in white to the left) and HH54VP (hand-held model-shown in black below). You can click on each model number to get the specifications for each radio.

The National Weather Service operates more than 1,000 weather radio transmitters nationwide,  broadcasting to 98% of the U.S. population, including throughout Wisconsin.

Some of the benefits of Weather Radios include:

-The broadcasts are continuous: 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, providing weather updates, as well as information on other hazardous emergencies

-The radios are portable-can be taken anywhere, and operate both via AC and batteries

-The radios can be set to sound an alert-tone for specified weather watches, warnings and other emergencies, for specific counties

Use the Weather Radio as part of your Home or Business Safety program.  The radio can alert you to threatening weather, then turn to the NewsChannel 7 platforms for all your additional coverage, including Channel 7, the 24/7 Weather Channel, Facebook, and mobile alerts.
