Oh my, haven't you gained weight!

Hi all...

Sorry about the delay in getting a new topic up here. Been busy working on Share Your Holidays. (that's my underhanded way of reminding you to give to the food drive and fund raiser)

But here's a story I thought you'd get a chuckle out of.

Recently, my Dad and I threw my Mom a surprise party for her 65th Birthday/Retirement. It was at a supper club in my hometown where I tended bar during college.

It was a great night! Mom knew something was up, but she had no idea there would be that many people there. And it's always nice seeing relatives that you lose more and more contact with as life gets busier and busier.

Recently, I've been trying to eat healthy and work out more. I don't call it a diet because it's a whole change to a healthier lifestyle. Anyway, as of that night I was down about 25-pounds. Some of those Aunts and Uncles noticed I had lost the weight and were complimenting how I looked. It was good for my ego.

Then, a lady who was a regular customer of the supper club when I worked there in the mid-80's recognized me. I won't tell you her name to protect her privacy, but I will tell you she's originally from England. I didn't remember her name, but I remembered she took her pre-dinner cocktail without ice. (must be a European thing)

She was quite impressed by that and it was a pleasant exchange... Until this.

In a voice that sounded exactly like Mrs. Doubtfire, she said, "Oh my, haven't you gained weight since you worked here. You need to spend more time on the treadmill."

I just responded by saying, "Yea, I know. I'm working on it."

When I really wanted to say, "You knew me when I was 19, #itch. I'm 43 now, of course I'm not going to be in as good a shape."

It really wasn't that bad, it sort of make me laugh. Sort of. And it serves as a reminder of just how far I still have to go on my diet... Ah, I mean healthy lifestyle.
