Just Some Odds & Ends

Hi all.

Just some odds and ends for you today.

Hope you had a nice Easter! I took my Godson to church. Must say he was really well behaved. Even though we went to church a half hour early to make sure we got a seat because church is always so full on that day. So, 5-minutes before the service even began he asked "can we go now?" Still, he did really well. It's also my favorite service of the year. Just because there's so much joy, it's spring and it's the one time of year we sing my favorite hymn, "Jesus Christ is Risen Today" (sometimes it's called "Christ the Lord is Risen Today")

Walking around my yard this weekend, I was tickled to see all my stuff starting to bud. I thought when my Dad gave me the root for my Bleeding Heart a couple years ago it would never grow. It looked like a dead, gray radish. But it comes in every year. Again, I love this time of year.

I read in the paper this weekend the Hiawatha in Wausau is going smoke free. Good for them. I've always loved their fish fry, but have to be honest, I've avoided going there because it's always so smoky. But that's about to change.

Did you see any of the coverage of the Tea Party tax protests last week? I only saw our local coverage. But, I did get a chance to see how "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" covered it. Very funny stuff. They pointed out that Fox News (and it's conservative slant) beat the drum that it was the greatest event ever. Stewart and his fake reporters also pointed out how MSNBC (and it's liberal slant) called it the stupidest thing ever, making fun of it by using a sexual double entendre. You could probably check it out at Comedy Central's website.

I got a chance to see a show on MTV this weekend called "Bully Beatdown." (I know I'm too old for MTV, but I was channel surving and caught it) Essentially, if you have someone bullying you, you can have this show come and offer them $10,000 to step in the octagon with a mixed marshal artist. They go two rounds. In the first, they wrestle and for every time the bully taps out (gives up) the bully's victims get $1000. In the second round, if the bully gets knocked out, TKO'd or quits, the bully's victim gets the entire 5k. The most I saw a bully win was 2-grand and the rest went to the victims. It's fun, mindless stuff. Check it out if you get the chance.

OK, that's it. If you have a comment, you know what to do.
