Does this annoy anyone beside me?

Standing in line at a convenience store yesterday the two young women in front of me were both on cell phones.

One of the women was very quiet. But the other seemed to think that the rest of us were just dying to here her side of the phone conversation. It went something like this.

"Hello?"

"No Sh**!"

"Did she know about it?"

"And what about this weekend?"

"She so needs to avoid seeing him."

At that point she reached the counter where it was her turn to pay and said

"Just a minute."

Then she set the phone down and reached into her gigantic purse to pay for her Red Bull and cigarettes, but she picked up the cell phone and continued the conversation as she walked out the door.

I think had she kept talking as the clerk was waiting on her, I would have had a complete melt down.

So to everyone who feels the need to have a private conversation on a cell phone surrounded by people in a public place I have on thing to say. THE REST OF US DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT!!

Thanks for letting me get that off my chest. What's your gripe this week?

J

Jeff, I don't like it. If people are going to talk on the phone wait until after their done. I work at a place that I work at the cash register and some of the people you get in the lane. I agree with you too. Have a great day, kat

It's annoying to have people talk into their bluetooth headset when you greet them and they start talking and you finally realize they have one of those on. Also I was at the movies one night and someone actually had their cellphone on during the show. How rude and stupid is that?

Jeff, you are so right. My mother does this and as I stand there staring at her with my hand on my hip I hope she gets the idea to be more conciderate of me and others around her. She hates it when other people do it, then does it herself. I just laugh and hope she gets the hint.

This is totally off of any subject but I just had to write and voice my opinion. I was looking at the home page today and saw a headline that just made me sick. It was the one regarding the absolute abuse of a raccoon by a drunken idiot. The raccoon may have had to be put down anyway being that it was in town and may have been sick, but for someone, anyone to trap it and they proceed to burn it alive is just too much. I, personally hope that fool gets the fine AND the prison time. Thanks for letting me vent, just call me an animal lover!

I have one even a little better. I work at a payday lender so when people come in to the sore it is atotal one on one contact. Ane I need to know a lot of confidential info, some of these people feel they can come in here while talking on the phone....guess what??? I won't wait on them. I will stand there and stare at them until they get off the phone. I am not going tgo compete with a telephone in order to do my job. I don't think anyone should have to wait on a person who has a phone stuck in their ear. Have some respect people!

Jeff, heres one for you~ A couple of weeks ago, I was at the grocery store with my 2 year old son. A young girl, maybe 10 or 12 years old, was near us. Her mom said something she didn't like and she responded with "Shut up you stupid fat f**k." The last word my son heard was the one he repeated for the rest of the day!! I was mortified by this!! I wish people would think about what they say in public places. You may be offending somone or you may be teaching a young child offensive language!!

I'm gonna sound really old, but if I had done that as a kid I would have gotten a smack across the mouth. J

Here is my all time best: While driving from Wausau to Stevens Point, this car would pass me, then slow way down. This went on for over half the way to Point. I finally got the chance and you can imagine what I saw! This young lady was talking on her cell and writing something on a pad of paper, and steering with her knees! Driving and talking on non hands free cells should be outlawed!

That is certainly an argument in favor of a law like that! J

Jeff, I have one more to throw at you. How about nasty bumper stickers. I had a daughter that could read at a very young age and she would see nasty bumper stickers and read them out loud in the car. I realize this is off the subject of cell phones, but when kids are old enough to read should they have to read other people's annoying, swear word infested bumper stickers? Thanks for letting me vent this.

It's just low class to say or put swear words where children can hear or see them. And it's not exactly high class to say them when kids aren't around. J

Here's a cell phone story: I was leaving a grocery store. Some young woman was leaning against MY car while talking on her cell. When I unlocked the car with my remote she didn't move. When I popped the trunk with my remote she finally got the hint. All I did was give her a dirty look as she moved to lean on the next car - I hope it was hers. Hindsight 20/20, I should set off the horn and lights with my remote's panic button!! Would have loved to see her reaction!

That would have been absolutely hilarious! J

I work at a convenience store and when people come walking in talking on their phone, I still say "Hi!!" or "Good morning!!" just as if they werent on the phone. Also, when they come up to pay I tell them their total or ask if they need anything else. I dont care if they're in the middle of a conversation or if I'm "interrupting" them. They should pay attention to what they're doing....get off the phone and when you're back out in your car or out of the store THEN call the person back. Yeah....it irritates me to no end!!! You're not the only one that feels that way Jeff.

Thanks for joining in the discussion. J

I was at the Bradley Center to see Cirque du Soleil a few years ago. The whole place was dark so the stage would be the focus. Well, except for the lady with the cell phone sitting one row ahead of me. She was texting with someone. For over half an hour her phone would beep when she received a message - every 5 minutes. Show music was loud enough so that wasn't so bad. The annoying thing was the way the phone lit up a radius of at least 10 feet when she flipped it open to respond. In that darkened arena it was like a blinding beacon. She provided a droll secondary entertainment for me since I was close enough to read most of the conversation. It read something like what you heard at the convenience store.

I would imagine those tickets were not cheap. So it seems like that lady paid a lot of money not to pay attention to the show. I hope you had a good time in spite of her. J

You seem to have alot of things that bother you. Maybe you need to see a therapist to learn some coping skills.

I was going to, but those things really annoy me. J

Anyone being to loud while they are having a private conversation whether on their cellphone standing in line, at a restaurant, or in a movie theater before the movie is being rude to others and probable is seeking attention.

Thanks for the comment. J
