Earlier this year, I tried to sell my house. So, I saved up many of my vacation days for cleaning, painting and all the stuff that goes with moving to a new house.
But after I couldn't get my house sold and the whole deal went south, I ended up having to use the days before August 20th or I'd lose them. AND I'M NOT LOSING AND VACATION TIME!
So, I took vacation last week.
Now that I'm not moving, I'm sticking a little money in the house. So during my time off, I had a new driveway put in to replace a cracked and uneven one. And I had some friends and relatives come over to help me build a storage shed in the back yard. Those were the two biggies.
The rest of the days went to what I called retirement rehearsal. And if there's one thing I found out during retirement rehearsal is that I'm going to make one very good retiree! I did not get bored once.
There was yard stuff to work on, friends to go to lunch with, shopping to do, a dog to walk, Law and Order reruns and a thousand other things to keep me occupied. But I could do them at a pace that was actually enjoyable! Not squeezed into a lunch hour or time before or after work. It was wonderful!
And I only have 20 more years until I can do it all the time.
