BACKING INTO SOME PAIN

So, I wake up Monday morning and all is normal.  I make the bed, walk the dog, lift weights and go about my normal morning routine.

Then I set down at my home computer to check my e-mails and get up from my chair when WHOA!  Suddenly my back is killing me!  I would understand if it had happened WHILE I was lifting weights, but getting up from a chair?  It's so bad, I eventually have to call in sick and make a chiropractor appointment.

Since then, I've missed two full and two half days of work.  Spending time on the couch and in my easy-chair snuggling an ice pack.  I've also been to the chiropractor 3-times.  By the way, he says it's probably not getting up from the chair but an accumulation of a bunch of stuff I've done that lead to the inflammation and pain.

It is getting better thanks to my chiro, the ice and Aleve (or at least the cheaper store equivalent of Aleve).

I'm just glad, if it HAD to happen, it happened now instead of a few weeks from now when the prime yard work season begins.

It also gives me new respect for people who do real work every day.  I sit at a computer, put on make-up and read out loud every day.  But real workers, like my dad who was a welder for 40-years until he retired, lift and stretch and stand on their feet for hours a day.  God bless them, they're tougher than I am.

It also reminds me of why I am a believer in chiropractic care.  After a pinched nerve in my neck and sciatic nerve problem over the last few years...  This is the third thing my chiro, Dr. Cory Sandquist, is helping me take care of.  I know his work would be a lot easier if I lost weight and went in more regularly for an adjustment, but that's something I still need to work on I guess.

So, if you're wondering why the younger, better looking Mikel Lauber is filling in for me so much lately, it's because of my back.  And thanks to the stuff I mentioned before, hopefully I won't be missing too much more time.

Hope your back is feeling better Jeff and I do hope you have been to a real doctor, an M.D. as well as a chiropractor.

Yes I did notice that you were gone for a while hope things are getting better with your back. I do know what it is like having back pain as I have suffered with it for over six years now and some days are worse than others. I was close to having back surgery but through physical therapy I didn't need to go under the knife. So listen to your chiropractor and do as I do and do a lot of stretching as that does help me. It does seem when the back hurts one hurts all over. Glad to see you are back to work as we loved the news last night where you were "talking on the phone" because of Jockos comments! You two guys are just way too funny!!

Thanks for the kind words. The chiro "cracking around" has me almost back to normal. And this time, I'll go back for my routine maintainance instead of waiting until it hurts again.
