Susan G. Komen, Presidential Vacations, Wild Animals

Hi all,

Sorry I didn't get this updated last week.  A couple people on vacation in the newsroom meant I had a few extra duties that took priority over updating the blog.

First off, congrats to everyone who took part in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Wausau Sunday!  From the event organizers to the people who stood next to the runners and walkers and cheered.  Very nice job!  Sorry, I couldn't make it.  Hope I can be there next year.  Better yet, may be there'll be a cure for breast and all types of cancer by then and we won't need fundraisers anymore.

People squawking at the president and his Mrs. for taking vacations are starting to annoy me.  Bottom line is it's the most pressure filled job on the planet, ON THE PLANET.  And to do it better, the person with the job should take vacation time to clear his mind.  Just so you don't think this is me taking a political side, I said the same thing when people squawked about President Bush chopping wood in Texas.  If it clears the mind of the person with the heaviest burden on the planet, ON THE PLANET, do it.  As for the cost, it's worth it.

We ran a story this morning about an alligator in the Chicago River in Chicago.  Authorities suspect it got too big for someone who had it as a pet when it was smaller and it was released into the river.  Really?!  Bottom line is leave wild animals in the wild, they are not made to be pets.  It's cruel to them and dangerous for us.

OK, enough soap box for today.  Have an opinion?  I'd love to hear it.

J
