The primary is a couple weeks away, so you're seeing more and more political commercials. When you see one, I want you to do me a favor. Just watch it and laugh.
I'm not saying laugh at the content. They're all very serious. Laugh at how they're done.
When a candidate does a commercial talking about how horrible his opponent is, play close attention to the picture or video used of that opponent, how the music sounds and the voice of the person doing the voice over. Candidates use the most horrible picture or video ever taken of their opponent. They edit it together with music to make it sound like Jason from the "Friday the 13th" or Michael from "Halloween" is about to jump out of the shadows and attack. And finally, the voice over talent tries to sound as much like Satan as possible. If you think I'm exaggerating, just track down the ads from the 2008 Gableman vs. Butler campaign commercials for the State Supreme Court.
Some of those "call so-and-so and tell them you want them to lower our taxes and increase our government services" type of political commercials are just as bad.
If you take my advice, instead of being annoyed by all the political commercials you'll see in the next few weeks, you'll actually get a kick out of them.
When it comes to the politicians themselves, sorry. Nothing can make them less annoying.
