It's been a couple of weeks since I started the "What'cha Got?" series, and I'm already amazed by some of the things people collect. This week, it's an incredible gathering of salt and pepper shakers - 800 pair to be exact. Just seeing them all together is really something. I'll show you what I mean when the piece airs this Tuesday (11/24) at 5 and 10. But that's not the only thing that's in the works. I found a man who collects axes - not the typical lumberjack ones you might think of (although, they're there, too), but ones from Europe and date back as much as a thousand years. I've also met a horse collector, a beer can collector and even a lady who has plenty of Betty Boop. Then, there's the frog guy. Not only has it been fun seeing their stuff and learning their love for what they collect, it's also been an education. I'm amazed at how much you can discover when talking about something that people enjoy and how knowledgeable they can be. Those are just a few of the folks I've been in touch with and more keep coming in.
But there is someone I am looking for. Next month, we're doing a series of feature pieces in Rhinelander. I'd like to feature a collector from that community. So if you, or someone you know, has a unique collection in the home of the Hodag (I'm willing to bet there's to be a collector of those things), let me know. I'd love to talk with them and feature what they've got.
As for the product testing, we're taking Thanksgiving off. But in the next couple of weeks, we'll take a look at the ProCaulk kit and the Bumpits for hairstyling. That's one you won't want to miss, as I recruit a couple of the women around here to be product-testers-in-training.
